LOCAL INFORMATION Riad al Idrisi is very central and is close to a number of excellent restaurants, shops, markets, cafés etc. Here are a few of our favourites. Keep this page bookmarked as we will be adding more...! La Maison Arabe
A couple of minutes' stroll from Riad al Idrisi, La Maison Arabe offers drinks and meals in sumptuous courtyards and classical arab architecture. For a truly magical start to the day, try breakfast in the courtyard. It is located (and helpfully signposted from the main road) in a small alley opposite the entrance to the Bab Doukkala Mosque where your taxi probably dropped you off on your arrival. Further information can be found here: www.maisonarabe.com
Le Pavillon
Patisserie des Princes
If you want to make an early start exploring Marrakech's legendary central square Djemaa el-Fna, we highly recommend the coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice and pastries (the best in town!) at the Patisserie des Princes at 32 Rue Bab Agnaou, one of the main roads leading away from the square. Get there early for croissants warm from the oven!
Les Bains de Marrakech No visit to Marrakech would be complete without a Hammam and Les Bains de Marrakech are the ideal place to be pampered. Click here for further information: www.lesbainsdemarrakech.com. Alternatively, if you're after something a little simpler, ask Ouafa to direct you to local Hammam. Men can go in the morning; women can go in the afternoon. Café Des Épices
We defy you to visit the souks of Marrakech for more than two hours without feeling the urgent need of a quick fix of mint tea! The Café Des Épices is conveniently located in one of the open squares in the middle of the Souks behind Djemaa el-Fna and provides a much-needed break. We recommend climbing to the rooftop terrace to sip your tea while enjoying the spectacular view over the city rooftops, past the Koutobia Minaret and over to the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Bliss! www.cafedesepices.com
