Eating out is one of the many great experiences that Marrakech has to offer and the following are a few suggestions. Please feel free to share any discoveries with us and we will add them to the list!

 

To get good restaurant food there are two ways in which you can go about it in Marrakech; Cheap, well-cooked food that the locals would go out to eat or expensive, well-cooked food that is prepared for tourists and wealthy Moroccans.

Try the local restaurants that Moroccans would go to and pay very low prices for simple and tasty food. One of the best of these is a restaurant called Café Bijguini, on Rue Bijguini Guiliz (Marrakech New town).  Avoid all the other restaurants on this street and just go to the one at the end of the road on the right. It’s a great place normally only frequented by Moroccans.

Other than this for cheap eats don’t miss Djemma El Fna. Try some of the stalls there and choose the places that the locals go to (e.g. meat at no.32) where the food is always freshly and well prepared.

 

For some of the fancier restaurants close to our Riad you can expect to pay around £35+ per person. Book ahead as they do tend to fill up quickly. All those below are within walking distance of the house.

Le Tobsil (pictured above). Superb quality. If you want to try dining in a lovely atmosphere with good Gnawa music and well prepared food then try 22 Derb Moulay Abdallah ben Hezzaien, Ksour-R’mila, tel: (+212) (0) 44 44 40 52

Others that we have enjoyed include Le Foundouk, Le Marrakchi, Al-Fassia, Le Comptoir and Dar Marjana. Most details can be found in any up to date guide book.
